Cusco the Imperial City

The tour of the historic center of Cusco (Cultural Heritage), invites us to walk through a city that was drawn and designed by the Incas but also was colonized by the Spanish, so we’ll see colonial buildings on the basis of the Inca ceremonial centers, a fusion of two styles that make the city unique and one of the most beautiful jewels of architecture, plus all the art exhibitions that contain their perfectly constructed walls.

To visit all these wonderful places in the city and the museums there are alternatives that can be done on foot, or consider a guided tour to the nearby archaeological sites, such as: Sacsayhuaman Fortress important for being an imposing building with large stones weighing between 90 and 128 tons, a place of religious, administrative and Cosmo vision of the Incas, where the most important holiday of the Andes took place: the Inti Raymi or festival of the Sun. This celebration still remains in force until this day and it´s celebrated every June 24th. Other major Inca centers around the city are Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

A place you can not miss is the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a full day journey where you can not miss the Archaeological Park of Pisac, Ollantaytambo Fortress, The Maras and Moray terraces.

If time permits you should not miss Tipon, Piquillacta, Rumicolca and Raqchi, part of the path of the Sun, that can be visited when going south of the city or on their way to Puno.

It is important to note that the city of Cusco is the most visited tourist destination in our country, the wealth of its resources, its attractions, its cultural heritage, and especially because it is an essential destination for the world, Cusco holds one of the 7 wonders of the world, the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu!
