Huancayo places you can’t miss

Huancayo is located in the Mantaro Valley, has a great tourist offer, such as adventure activities, beautiful natural landscapes and archaeological sites. Having to its natural attractions, as places that stand out and are more attractive to tourists because of their beauty thanks to our Peruvian Andeans.

Here are some places you should not miss when you go to Huancayo:

1. Tower Tower
This natural attraction is located one kilometer from the city of Huancayo and consists of gigantic geological towers that have been formed thanks to the passage of wind and rains. The mixture of both elements has caused the stones to erode forming towers of up to 30 meters.

2. Nevado Huaytapallana
This natural attraction is located 5200 m.s.n.m. and a two-hour drive from the city of Huancayo. Its name means «place where flowers are collected» and this because in the lower part of the snow falls the flower called Sumarchuncho grows. This flower only grows on holy week so they are used for Easter crowns. Some tourists take hikesfrom the city of Huancayo to the foot of the snow.

3. Paca Lagoon
The Paca Lagoon is located 3 kilometers from the city of Jauja and 3418 m.s.n.m. This lagoon is very popular for its various legends among the locals. In addition to being a place to rest and admire the beauty of the lagoon and its surroundings, it is also a place where you can taste the rich gastronomy of the area.

4. Ingenio trout farm
Ingenio is Peru’s largest trout hatchery. This is 28 km from the city of Huancayo. The hatchery produces 130 tonnes of trout per year and is made up of 50 pools.
