Peru resumes tourism activities with strict security protocols

Tourism activities resume in Peru by reopening tourism sites and attractions, as well as, resuming international flights from and to our country.

Our Ministry of Transportation gave the clearance for short haul international fights to operate again. Now flights coming from Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Chile are allowed into our territory, meaning that travelers and visitors can know visit our country departing from those countries or connecting from there to get to Peru.

The Ministry has discussed with operating airlines to installed protocols that will ensure the safety of travelers. Protocols that are being implemented are aircraft having air filtration systems similar to those used in operating rooms, disinfection of aircraft before and after passenger boarding, among others.

It’s important that travelers are aware of the new rules and protocols being implemented in our international airport, Jorge Chavez, as well as, the process they need to have ready before entering the country:

• Please check in electronically before attending the airport.
• Don’t forget to wear your mask and face shield at all times.
• Jorge Chavez Airport opens its doors at the end of the national curfew: 04:00 a.m.
• Passengers with domestic flights will be allowed to come into the airport 2 hrs. before departure, for international flights is 4 hrs. before departure.
• Every passenger must have a negative RT-PCR test result, up to 48 hours old from the RT-PCR test result (-), or high epidemiological medical certificate before boarding the aircraft.
• Attach lab result (PDF or image format). For children (under 12 years old), they only need a medical certificate of good health.
• The “Electronic Affidavit of Health, and commitment to carry out the isolation or quarantine of the traveler», which is located on the website of the National Superintendency of Migration http://e-notificacion.migraciones.gob.pe/dj-salud/
• Both documents mentioned above must be kept as they can also be requested in Peruvian territory.
• If you are traveling outbound, do not go to the airport with others who are not traveling, with the exception of people who need special assistance.
• At the airport you must maintain social distancing and you are encourage to use the hand sanitizers located in various aeras of the terminal.

Tourism attractions

Cusco

As we reported, Machu Picchu reopened this month along side with several other tourist attractions, as part of phase 4 of economic reactivation, with the Safe Travels seal to the destination «Machu Picchu», involves strict compliance with biosecurity protocols from the arrival of visitors to Aguas Calientes train station, as well as in restaurants, lodgings, transportation to the entrance and interior of the historic citadel.

In Cusco, visits to the archaeological parks of Sacsayhuamán, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, Tipón, Moray and Pikillacta were resumed. The opening of some museums and archaeological sites began on October 15, and throughout the month others will begin to welcome visitors for free.
