Peru wins 4 World Travel Awards & Netflix films new series in Cusco

Peru once again stands out as one of the countries with the greatest tourist attraction in the world, by winning four categories of the World Travel Awards Latam, a version that precedes this year’s global edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA), known as the «Oscar of Tourism» awards.

In the ceremony from the prestigious Dubai Expo, Peru prevailed over other countries after having several important nominations.
In this sense, the categories in which Peru stood out and ultimately received an award were:

• Best Culinary Destination. Leader in South America 2021: Peru
• Best Cultural Destination. South America Leader 2021: Peru
• Leading tourist attraction in South America 2021: Machupicchu, Peru
• Leading Tourism Office of South America 2021: PromPerú

These awards were presented in the Peru pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai with the presence of the executive president of PromPerú, Amora Carbajal, and the founder of the World Travel Awards, Graham Cooke.

This version of the South American awards is just the beginning since the global WTA awards will be held in Moscow on November 26, where Peru also has several important nominations, so everyone is encouraged to renew their participation by voting for Peru in the new competition for the Global category of the WTA here:

Transformers in Peru: Filming of movie gets set in Cusco

Transformers: The Awakening of the Beasts, from Paramount Pictures, began in Peru about three weeks ago.

This is the seventh film in the franchise, which was inspired by Hasbro toys; the first film in this series came out in 2007.

According to the Peruvian newspaper La República, the film’s production team finished recordings in Cusco on September 7th and arrived yesterday at Machu Picchu, where only the main actors, Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fish, will be recorded.

Upon arrival in the Inca city, they were received by Darwin Baca, mayor of Machu Picchu. However, recordings in the group will be limited to a small number of people, including actors, cameramen and production staff.

Netflix series, The queen of the south’s new season films in Cusco

The series La reina del sur, starring Kate del Castillo, will bring surprises for its followers in its new installment, especially for its Peruvian audience, as will also include Peruvian actors.

The person in charge of the production also pointed out that, among the settings chosen for the filming of the new season of La Reina del Sur, is Cusco, especially Machu Picchu. Cantuarias also indicated that, together with his team, he plans to go to Lima to show the Historic Center of the city, as well as the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro.
