Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 02 Days / 01 Night

INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU
ITINERARY:

DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 104 – WIÑAYHUAYNA – walking time approximately 6 hours

Transfer from the hotel to the train station with direction Km 104 (2250m), between Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes, where we will begin to walk along this Inca Trail. Halfway through this network of trails we will visit the archaeological ruins of Chachabamba (2270m) with a professional guide. After this visit, we will continue our walk up to the highest point of this connection, where we will meet Wiñayhuayna (2650m). Wiñayhuayna is the most important archaeological complex within this part of the Inca Trail. The trail continues from Wiñayhuayna, passing Inti Punku (the SunGate at 2780 meters) towards Machu Picchu (2400m). Before visiting the ruins, we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes (2050 meters, ten minutes by car) where we will spend the night in a hotel. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO

Early rising in order to take the first bus up to the archeological site of Machu Picchu (2400 m) where we will have a guided tour with a professional guide. An absolute necessity to understand this untouched archeological Inca capital. The tour will last for about two hours which gives you plenty of time afterwards to visit the site at your own pace. Afterwards we’ll meet together to go down to Aguas Calientes again for lunch and to take the train back to Cusco.
