Kuelap Gocta Chachapoyas 05 Days / 04 Nights

A combination of nature adventure, pre-Inca history and mystery will be enjoyed in this short but unforgettable tour. Chachapoyas is a typical andean city, Kuelap is a pre-Inca citadel built in VI th century and Gocta falls, considered the world´s third highest waterfall.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1 CHICLAYO – CHACHAPOYAS

We meet in Chiclayo and travel 10 scenic hours through some of South America’s most varied terrain, with plenty of opportunity to photograph the desert, mountains and rivers we pass. We arrive in Chachapoyas. Overnight in Chachapoyas

DAY 2 FORTIFIED CITADEL KUELAP
After breakfast our staff will pick you up from the hotel and we will go to the fortified citadel of Kuelap, an hour later we will take a short break to observe the archaeological site of Macro, spectacular constructions that are located on the slope of a hill on the banks of the Utcubamba river, finally we will arrive at the Kuelap fortress located on a rocky massif at 3000 meters above sea level, we will visit its main constructions, houses with friezes, high and low town , the tower, the main temple, the south platform and much more, lunch, return to Chachapoyas. Overnight in Chachapoyas

DAY 3 SARCOPHAGI KARARAJIA (THE SACRED TOMBS OF THE CHACHAPOYAS) + QUIOCTA
Hotel greeting to depart to the town of Cruzpata to begin a 30 min walk to visit the burial site Chachapoyas sarcophagi Karajía, considered the most spectacular and unique in all of Peru and the world. Its funerary statues are located in inaccessible cliffs and have been kept there for centuries. Here lie the mummified bodies of the most important rulers of the Chachapoyas. Guided tour, lunch and explore the cave of Quiocta with thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. Return to Chachapoyas and hotel. Overnight in Chachapoyas

DAY 4 REVASH MAUSOLEUM AND MUSEUM OF LEYMEBAMBA

Depart towards the village of San Bartolo to begin a 45-minute walk to the funeral Chullpas at the Revash Mausoleum. There you’ll see a two-story gabled roof decorated with Chachapoyan iconography with paintings depicting figures of animal, human and geometric shapes. Guided tour, transfer to the town of Leymebamba, lunch, afternoon visit the Community Museum of Leymebamba and its 219 mummies of Chachapoyas still in great condition. Here we can appreciate, weavings, ceramics, weapons, musical instruments and an interesting collection of Incan quipu. Return to Chachapoyas and hotel.

DAY 5: GOCTA WATERFALL (THE THIRD HIGHEST IN THE WORLD 771 METERS) – CHICLAYO

Hotel greeting and transportation to visit the village of Cocachimba and the waterfall Gocta about 2.5 hrs. On the way, we will observe diverse flora and fauna to the base of the waterfall for time to enjoy and relax. Later we will return to Cocachimba for lunch before returning to Chachapoyas and the bus. At the end transfer to the bus station to take your transportation to Chiclayo
