Lima Cusco Inca Trail 09 Days / 08 Nights

LIMA CUSCO INCA TRAIL
ITINERARY:

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO LIMA 

Reception and transfer to the selected hotel in Lima. Overnight in Lima.

DAY 2: CUSCO / CITY TOUR

Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Cusco. (airfare NOT included).  Assistance at your arrival in Cusco airport and transfer to the selected hotel. At the hotel a hot Coca tea will be waiting for you to help you avoid altitude sickness. In the afternoon we will start visiting the City of Cusco on a guided sightseeing tour knowing the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Koricancha. Then, we drive out of the City to visit the Inca sites of Kenko, Tambomachay (the Inca baths), Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman. When the tour ends, we will return to the hotel. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 3: CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS 

In the morning we will have a full day excursion to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas”, where we will appreciate the typical Indian Market of Pisac, which is open every day. After having lunch in a local countryside restaurant, we will visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the Valley.  Finally, we will visit the Village of Chincheros to return then to the city.  At night our guide will be giving you a briefing about the trek. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 4: CUSCO – KM 82 – WAYLLABAMBA (06 walking hours) 

After breakfast, our guide will pick us up from the hotel to take the bus to the Km 82 for beginning the Inka Trail. After we pass the checkpoint we’ll walk until we arrive to Llactapata, which is one of the biggest Incas remains. Here we’ll get our lunch. In the afternoon we continue our walk towards the first campsite Wayllabamba. After enjoying an evening meal together, we will retire early in preparation for tomorrow’s trek. 

DAY 5: WAYLLABAMBA – PACAYMAYU (07 walking hours)

After a delicious breakfast will start the hardest part of our journey towards the highest point in the Inca trail with a steep climb followed by a 3 hours walking until getting the first pass called Warmiwañusca (The dead woman), at 4200 masl. After getting our lunch with this beautiful background of mountains, we we’ll continue the way down to Pacaymayu which is our second campsite. 

DAY 6: PACAYMAYU – WIÑAYWAYNA (8 walking hours)
After breakfast we’ll descend to the second pass, Runkurakay Pass (3850 masl) and then we will continue going down to the next Inca remain, Sayacmarca, where we’ll get our lunch. In the afternoon after a little rest we will continue our trekking until arriving to our last campsite Wiñaywayna (Always young) where we will have a guided tour to this spectacularly well ubicated complex. Dinner and camping.

DAY 7: WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHUPICCHU (02 walking hours)

Very early in the morning after breakfast, we’ll start walking towards the Intipunku (Sun Gate) and from this place we’ll have the first visual contact with Machupicchu. From this point we will start to descend until getting the citadel, having a guided tour to the ruins. After a free time to visit the citadel and we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes to have lunch (included). Then we’ll take the train Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and will be transferred to Cusco by bus. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your selected hotel. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 8: CUSCO / FREE DAY

Breakfast. Free day to enjoy the city of Cusco on your own, we recommend visiting the central market of San Pedro is a traditional place of Cusco, where you can find native products, crafts, typical foods and much more, or going to the excursion to the Rainbow Mountain. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 9: CUSCO / LIMA – CITY TOUR

After breakfast, transfer to Cusco’s airport for going back to Lima (airfare NOT included).  Upon arrival to Lima the driver will be waiting for you with a sign up with your name and will transfer you to the Manhattan Inn Airport Hotel. The guide will star the tour from the hotel. The City Tour visiting the most important places such as: The Main Square, the Cathedral, the Archbishopric, the Palace of Government, the City Hall of Lima, the railway station and the monumental Convent of San Francisco, where we will see its cloisters, catacombs and the religious museum. We will continue the visit with Lima residential zones, arriving then to the district of Miraflores, where we will have a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and its Beaches. At the end of the tour we will go back to the Hotel. At an appropriate hour, transfer to the Jorge Chavez International Airport.
