Lima Cusco Puerto Maldonado 08 Days/07 Nights

LIMA, CUSCO, PUERTO MALDONADO
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LIMA 

Reception and transfer to the selected hotel in Lima. Overnight in Lima.

DAY 2: CUSCO / CITY TOUR

Assistance at your arrival in Cusco airport and transfer to the selected hotel. At the hotel a hot Coca tea will be waiting for you to help you avoid altitude sickness. Resting in the morning is highly recommended, that way your body acclimates to the altitude while you sleep. In the afternoon we will start visiting Cusco on a guided sightseeing tour knowing the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Koricancha. Then, we drive out of the City to visit the Inca sites of Kenko, Tambomachay (the Inca baths), Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman. When the tour end we will return to the hotel. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 3: CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS / AGUAS CALIENTES

After breakfast we will have a full day excursion to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas”, where we will appreciate the typical Indian Market of Pisac, which is open every day. After having lunch in a local countryside restaurant, we will visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo. At appropriate we will take the train to Aguas Calientes located in the province of Urubamba, at an altitude of 2,400 masl. At night, the site guide will locate you to give you the briefing of the excursion to Machu Picchu. Overnight in the town of Aguas Calientes.  

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU TOUR

In the morning after breakfast,  we will  take a 25-minute bus drive of winding road, to “The Lost City of the Incas”, having a guided tour to The Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and  visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows. After the tour we will have time to stroll around the Archaeological Site at leisure. After lunch we will return to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco 

DAY 5: CUSCO / PUERTO MALDONADO – POSADA AMAZONAS

After breakfast, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Puerto Maldonado (airfare NOT included). Upon arrival, reception and transportation to the Tambopata river port from where we will have a trip of approximately 2 hours to Posada Amazonas, having lunch on arrival. In the afternoon we will receive orientation at the lodge before our activity: the observation tower of the forest canopy (canopy). We will then return to the lodge for dinner. Overnight Posada Amazonas.

DAY 6: TRES CHIMBADAS OXBOW LAKE – POSADA AMAZONAS

We will get up very early in the morning and after breakfast we will visit the Tres Chimbadas Lake. We will look for turtles, river birds, the peculiar shanshos, and perhaps even river wolves. We will return to the lodge and on the way we will visit a small clay lick for after lunch, take an ethnobotanical walk. After dinner.  Overnight Posada Amazonas.

DAY 7: POSADA AMAZONAS – PUERTO MALDONADO / LIMA

After breakfast, we will take our boat back to the city of Puerto Maldonado, and from there to the airport, back to Lima (air ticket NOT included). Upon our arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to the selected hotel. Overnight in Lima.

DAY 8: LIMA – CITY TOUR / TRANSFER IN THE AIRPORT

In the afternoon, we will start the City Tour, visiting the most important places such as: The Main Square, the Cathedral, the Archbishopric, the Palace of Government, the City Hall of Lima, the railway station and the monumental Convent of San Francisco, where we will see its cloisters, catacombs and the religious museum. We will continue the visit with Lima residential zones, arriving then to the district of Miraflores, where we will have a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and its Beaches. After the tour we will go to a restaurant for dinner. At an appropriate hour, transfer to the International Airport Jorge Chavez.
