Tour Itinerary Summary

Day 1: Cusco – Cuncani – Yanacocha – Sondor

Start early from Cusco, stopping at Calca market before reaching Cuncani to begin the trek. Hike through llama and alpaca territories, passing Yanacocha Lake for lunch, and camp at Huacawasi (3600m).

  • Walking time: 6 hours
  • Day climate: Warm
  • Night climate: Cold

Day 2: Sondor – Huacawasi Pass – Aruray Cocha – Pucara

Climb to Huacawasi Pass (4500m) with amazing views, then descend through lagoons and native forests. Camp at Pucara (3000m). Optional bird watching in the afternoon.

  • Day climate: Warm
  • Night climate: Cold

Day 3: Pucara – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

Hike through Inca terraces and Choccana ruins to Ollantaytambo. Lunch and take the 1 PM train to Aguas Calientes. Free time and overnight in town.

  • Climate: Warm

Day 4: Machu Picchu – Cusco

Early bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour. Free time to explore. Afternoon train and bus transfer back to Cusco.

  • Walking time: 3 hours
